In the modern world people think that Vikings wore hemets that had horns, but there is no evidence to support this. Vikings wore helmets (like the one in the picture) were made from iron and were molded like a cap. The iron was also molded to fit around the eyes and the mouth to create a kind of mask.

Vikings carried shields as part of there armor to protect them from swords and other weapons such as arrows and spears. Vikings shields were normally 80 to 90 cm in diameter and were made in various colours like the one in the picture.

Mail is the metal armor that protected the Vikings in battle. The mail is made up of little rings made out of iron. These rings were twisted together. Even though this piece of armor protected them, it was very heavy.
flat stone
Before the Mail armor was created Vikings used to tie a flat stone plate under their clothing on their chest and on their back. This was to protect them from being injuried by a sword or other weapon. This flat stone also protect the front and back of the Vikings neck.
