Viking women were independent and would run the house hold whilst their husbands were out on expeditions or battles. There wasn't really a set marriage as they could chose their husbands and could sue for divorce if there was a reasonable excuse like being disrespectful to each other and/or physical abuse. The women of the house would be praised for their house keeping or their good skills in handiwork.
